Following the successful completion of the overseas mission in Zanzibar, the Jiangsu Friendship Delegation and Jiangsu Province Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University, Jiangsu Women and Children Health Hospital) visited Egypt from November 21 to 25.

This visit aimed to further implement the "30 China-Africa Paired Hospitals Cooperation Mechanism" proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and to deepen collaboration with Ain Shams University Hospital under the China-Africa Cooperation Mechanism Between Paired Hospitals, advancing healthcare cooperation between China and Africa.

During the visit, Bao Jun, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Commission of Health, and Li Yu, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, along with Jiangsu Province Hospital representatives including Cheng Wenjun, Vice President and Director of Gynecology at Jiangsu Women and Children Health Hospital; Du Lina, Director of the International Cooperation Office; Liu Li, Director of the Digestive Endoscopy Department; Chen Xufeng, Director of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine; and Fu Zan, Deputy Director of General Surgery, were invited to Ain Shams University Hospital.

Discussions centered on digestive endoscopy collaboration and emergency specialty development. Addressing Ain Shams' needs for emergency specialty hospital construction, both sides proposed diverse collaborations, including specialist training, emergency workflow optimization, and emergency response system development. Efforts will focus on enhancing bilateral exchanges, technical training, and joint research to share Chinese technology, experience, and solutions. A cooperation agreement on emergency medicine was signed, marking a new milestone in collaboration and officially launching the JSPH Belt and Road Health Action in Egypt.

The two sides also held a handover ceremony for donated medical equipment, which provided crucial support for the establishment of the China-Egypt Joint Digestive Endoscopy Center. Under the guidance of Liu Li, Egyptian trainees successfully performed the hospital's first endoscopic POEM procedure, a milestone achieved through hands-on training and advanced medical technique transfer, further strengthening bilateral cooperation in digestive endoscopy.

During their stay, the delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and the China-Egypt Friendship Association, exploring broader healthcare and cooperation opportunities to deepen China-Egypt relations.

Since the official collaboration between Jiangsu Province Hospital and Ain Shams University Hospital began in 2020, the partnership has achieved significant progress. Looking ahead, Jiangsu Province Hospital will continue to advance practical cooperation with Egypt, enhance local healthcare service quality, and contribute to promoting China-Africa medical cooperation. Together, we aim to build a global health community with shared future in the new era.
