Passport
Foreigners who enter the country with foreign passports or ordinary visas and lose their passports within the validity period of the visas can obtain a passport loss certificate.
1. Identify the location where the passport is lost and go to the police station having jurisdiction over the location and obtain the Loss Certificate issued thereby.
Note: If such location can't be identified, go to the police station of your residence for loss report.
2. Go to relevant municipal exit and entry control department to handle the Passport Loss Report Certificate for Foreigners. Materials required include the Loss Certificate issued by a police station; the residence card; and a copy of the lost passport (if any).
3. Take the Passport Loss Report Certificate for Foreigners to the embassy or consulate of your country in China to apply for the new passport.

1. The Passport Loss Report Certificate is valid for 30 days. Foreigners must present the Passport Lost Report Certificate to the embassy or consulate of their country in China to apply for an exit certificate within 30 days from the date of reporting the loss, and apply for a visa or residence permit at the public security organ and return the Passport Lost Report Certificate.
2. Processing time: If relevant materials are complete, the application will be processed on the spot. If an investigation is required, the processing time is generally 3 weekdays.
