Foreigners who enter the country with foreign passports or ordinary visas and lose their passports within the validity period of the visas can obtain a passport loss certificate.

1. Identify the location where the passport is lost and go to the police station having jurisdiction over the location and obtain the Loss Certificate issued thereby.

Note: If such location can't be identified, go to the police station of your residence for loss report.

2. Go to relevant municipal exit and entry control department to handle the Passport Loss Report Certificate for Foreigners. Materials required include the Loss Certificate issued by a police station; the residence card; and a copy of the lost passport (if any).

3. Take the Passport Loss Report Certificate for Foreigners to the embassy or consulate of your country in China to apply for the new passport.
