Shenzhen Duty Free Group wins bid for departures duty-free retail at Wuxi Sunan Shuofang International Airport
Shenzhen Duty Free Group has been awarded the departures duty-free retail contract at Wuxi Shuofang International Airport, Wuxi Airport Group announced yesterday.
The airport serves the cities of Wuxi and Suzhou in East China’s Jiangsu province.
The retail operation, trading as Times DF, will cover nearly 275sq m in the Terminal 1 international departures zone, including three strategically positioned duty-free stores.
These shops will serve approximately 500,000 international passengers annually. The expansive offer features prominently in Wuxi Airport’s plans to expand capacity and enhance service quality for travellers.
Shenzhen Duty Free Group plans to tailor the stores to the local characteristics of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, as well as the preferences of outbound consumers in southern Jiangsu.
The group pledged to leverage its supply chain expertise to curate a selection of duty-free products that will provide optimum value for Wuxi Airport passengers.
The travel retailer said it aims to offer convenient, quality services that enhance Wuxi’s image as a key transportation hub in the Yangtze River Delta. The Suzhou-inspired product assortment will prioritise sense of place, supporting the airport’s image and economic development, Shenzhen Duty Free Group said.
Winning this latest bid is strategically important, Shenzhen Duty Free Group said, noting the expansion of its national footprint is part of a "going global" strategy.
The group said the project boosts its regional influence and market presence while demonstrating effective collaboration between local and regional state-owned enterprises.
