A single Grand Canal carries half of China's history. On the 10th anniversary of the successful inclusion of the Grand Canal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the "Why China - Carrying the Legacy Through the Ages" online promotion campaign was launched in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. The event featured a "Jiangsu Moment", where Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation launched major integrated media projects. Among these, the "inJiangsu" multilingual website and app presents the "Wheels along the Canal" starting from the Grand Canal and assembling young people from around the world to participate in a cycling relay along famous canals on different continents.

This event, featuring green and healthy activities, showcases the scenic beauty, lifestyle, and historical heritage along the world's famous canals through the eyes of the world's youth. The initiative kicks off with a cycling adventure along the Yangzhou section of the Grand Canal in China, and will expand to include the Canal du Midi in France, Llangollen Canal in the UK, Suez Canal in Egypt, Aveiro Canal in Portugal, Kiel Canal in Germany and Albert Canal in Belgium. Young participants will document their journeys, sharing their experiences via online platforms to engage a global audience. The event is promoted on multiple online platforms internationally and invites worldwide interaction, allowing viewers to explore the vitality of these waterways, fostering cross-cultural exchanges, and connections beyond borders.

After the World Canals Cycling Relay, plans are in place to host a Global Youth Dialogue at universities near the canals. This event will include a canal culture seminar, with experts discussing the heritage and future of canal cultures, and inviting young participants to share their cycling experiences and insights. This seminar will not only enhance interactions but also foster international friendship.

More than just a cycling trip, this initiative is a journey of culture and friendship, aiming to deepen global appreciation of the Grand Canal's rich historical and cultural connotation, and to encourage international youth to visit and experience this marvel of human civilization.

At the launch event, several major multimedia projects about the Grand Canal were also introduced, including the exploratory series "Set Sail! The Grand Canal", the documentary series "Thousand Years of Shipping on the Ever-Flowing Canal", and the variety show "Ever-Flowing Canal".
