Nanjing unveils next decade's development goals for Jiangbei New Area

The city of Nanjing in east China's Jiangsu province has mapped out the high quality development goals for the Jiangbei New Area in the next 10 years, according to a policy document released at a press conference held Monday.  

Nanjing has made it clear to build the urban area of the Jiangbei New Area into a modern, international, exquisite, and dynamic region, and make every effort to create a livable and business friendly youth development city that meets the needs of more talents for innovation, entrepreneurship, and settlement.

"We will accelerate the construction of the Nanjing North Station Hub Economic Zone and the International Convention and Exhibition Business District, promote the construction of branch campuses of high-quality schools in the main urban area, strengthen the introduction of famous teachers and principals, construct international departments of public hospitals, private hospitals, and foreign-funded medical institutions, accelerate the construction of the second phase of Gulou Hospital Jiangbei Campus, and promote the establishment of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University as class-A hospital", said Wang Wei, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administration of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area.

Focusing on the needs of future development, Nanjing will also support the construction of the third phase of Metro Line 4 and the planning of the Biomedical Valley rail transit project in Jiangbei New Area in a bid to further activate the growth momentum.

Nanjing Jiangbei New Area is the first and only national level new area in Jiangsu. According to the Implementation Plan, the Jiangbei New Area will strive to record R&D investment of over 4.5% of GDP, 2000 high-tech enterprises, a total industrial output value of 600 billion yuan above designated size, and a population of 3 million by 2027. By 2030, the Jiangbei New Area will record an economic aggregate of 580 billion yuan and by 2035 will record a two-fold increase from 2023.
