Jiangsu province records higher industrial growth
East China's Jiangsu province recorded industrial growth higher than the national average in the first half of the year, latest statistics show.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 7.4% in industrial added value above designated size, 1 percentage point higher than the national average. The thirteen prefecture level cities all recorded a positive increase in the added value of industries above designated size.

In terms of major industries, with the support of the country's innovative drug policies, the pharmaceutical industry achieved stable growth, while traditional advantageous industries such as textiles, petrochemicals, and steel reported relatively smooth operation. Thanks to continuous innovation, the electronics and automotive industries reported rapid growth.

Spearheaded by innovation, Jiangsu has continuously enhanced the autonomy and controllability of the electronics industry and maintained double-digit growth in the added value of the electronics industry by exceeding the provincial average for 15 consecutive months in the first half of the year.

7 out of the 16 advanced manufacturing clusters in the province, including software and information services, semiconductors, new power equipment, high-tech ships and marine equipment, new energy vehicles, emerging digital industries, and aerospace, reported double-digit growth in their added value January through June.
The high-performance AC traction power cables produced by Jiangsu Dongqiang Co., Ltd. are about to be sent to the construction sites of electrified high-speed railways across the country. Dongqiang has invested over 4% of its annual sales revenue in technological upgrades and product development with new products including data communication cables, railway signal cables, and high-end aluminum alloy special cables.
In the first half of the year, the national level little giant enterprises in Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 9.6% in added value, and 33 enterprises ranked the 2025 Global Unicorn List, playing an important supporting role in technological innovation, supply chain security, and stable employment in the province.
In addition, in the first half of the year, Jiangsu accelerated the development of new industries and new business models. The output value of high-tech industries and strategic emerging industries accounted for 51.8% and 42.1% of the total industrial output respectively with improvement in the industrial structure and operational quality.
