Jiangsu records 6 trillion yuan in imports, exports in 2025
Shangneng Electric Co., Ltd. is about to send high-power energy storage converters to Türkiye and photovoltaic inverters to Saudi Arabia, which will help build a world leading energy storage power station and photovoltaic power station in the respective country.
Operating in more than 100 countries and regions, the company recorded exports of over 200 million U.S. dollars in 2025—doubling year on year according to customs statistics—Ding Xiefei, chief financial officer of Shangneng Electric Co., Ltd, stated.
By strengthening industrial chain advantages and focusing on key sectors such as IT electronics, integrated circuits, high-end equipment, new energy, and green ships, Wuxi had effectively promoted foreign trade, Li Zhi, director of the Foreign Trade Department of Wuxi Commerce Bureau, noted, adding that the city achieved 800 billion yuan in foreign trade sales in 2025, marking a qualitative leap in scale, quality, and resilience.

The latest foreign trade statistics show that Jiangsu recorded 2.8 trillion yuan worth of exports of mechanical and electrical products last year, an increase of 11.6% and accounting for 70.7% of the province's total export value. Jiangsu recorded 239.96 billion yuan and 142.75 billion yuan in the exports of electrical equipment and ships, an increase of 18% and 37% respectively. Exports of electric manned vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells amounted to 184.98 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5% year on year.
Mechanical and electrical products sit at the core of the global value chain and their trade performance directly reflects the competitiveness of a region’s manufacturing sector, Fang Yong, associate professor of international economics and trade at the School of Business of Nanjing University, pointed out, adding that the scale, growth rate, and share of Jiangsu’s electromechanical products nationwide fully demonstrate the province’s key position in the global manufacturing industry.

The manifestation of Jiangsu's foreign trade industry reflects the overall improvement of Jiangsu's manufacturing industry's dependence on technological innovation to enhance competitiveness and promote the upward trend of high-end in the industrial chain value chain.
In 2025, Jiangsu recorded 2.98 trillion yuan in its import and export to countries along the Belt and Road, an increase of 11.3% and accounting for 50.1% of the provincial total, indicating that its foreign trade entities are actively adapting to the evolution of the global economic and trade pattern, promoting the implementation of institutional innovation achievements in the pilot free trade zone, stimulating cross-border e-commerce industry vitality, helping enterprises expand diversified markets, enhancing risk resistance, and providing strong support for foreign trade resilience.
