Jiangsu records 14 trillion yuan of GDP in 2025

According to the unified accounting results of regional gross domestic product, Jiangsu recorded 14.23515 trillion yuan of GDP in 2025, an increase of 5.3% over the previous year.

Jiangsu reported rapid industrial growth, with the added value of industries above designated size increasing by 6.5% year-on-year. The province reported a continuous increase in the contribution of the equipment manufacturing industry, with a year-on-year increase of 8.8% in added value and a contribution rate of 74.6% to the growth of all industries above designated size, up 13.4 percentage points from the previous year.

Last year, Jiangsu witnessed the accelerated development of emerging industries and the digital economy with the output value of its high-tech industries accounting for 52.1% of the industries above designated size, up 1.4 percentage points from the previous year. Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 10.2% in the added value of digital core product manufacturing industry above designated size, which is 3.7 percentage points higher than the growth rate of all industries above designated size.

In 2025, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 5.8% in the added value of the tertiary industry. From January to November, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 9.4% in revenue from productive service industries, contributing 77.4% to the growth of all service industries above designated size. In the meantime, Jiangsu reported double-digit growth in productive leasing services, business services, human resource management, and vocational education and training services.

Jiangsu reported stable growth in the consumer market by posting 4639.42 billion yuan in its total retail sales of consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. Green intelligent products, especially those with good growth momentum. Jiangsu reported a growth of over 20% in the retail sales of new energy vehicles included in government statistics, green appliances with energy efficiency levels of 1 and 2, smart appliances, and computer products, stimulating a total retail sales growth of 3.4 percentage points.

Last year, Jiangsu witnessed sustained growth in the sports economy and holiday economy. From January to November, the province reported a year-on-year increase of 35.7%, 36.4%, and 11.8% in revenue for sports competition organizations above designated size, passenger ticketing agents, travel agencies, and related services.

Zhang Chunlong, Special Researcher at Jiangsu Regional Modernization Research Institute, stated that overall, Jiangsu demonstrated strong resilience and vitality in 2025, further enhancing the driving force of its innovation. He added that Jiangsu witnessed a very active growth of high-tech enterprises above designated size, further optimizing the industrial structure, especially the growth of the service industry exceeding the GDP growth rate. He noted that at the same time, Jiangsu further optimized the proportion of the tertiary industry. He pointed out that despite its large economic scale, Jiangsu was able to take a new step forward, which is an important manifestation of the province’s major role in the national economic development.
